Tuesday Tutorials: Crafts that Give Thanks

Celebrate the importance of giving thanks with these simple crafts the whole family can take part in (don't worry, no pilgrims here).

Give Thanks Banner: Gather dry ingredients from your kitchen - beans, pasta, cinnamon sticks, sunflower seeds - to make this fun holiday decoration your kids will love to show off. (Be sure to keep the wee ones away from this craft).

Little Pumpkins: This tutorial shows you how to make apples, but you can easily create pumpkins of different sizes your kids can then toss in with their play food.

Handprint Turkey: This one is cute but messy (and you'll want to keep it to remember how little your child's hand once was). Paint the palm of his/her hand brown and their fingers red, orange and yellow. Press their hand onto paper to make a turkey handprint, add an eye, feet, wattle and beak.

While their fingers are freshly painted move onto this Fall Fingerprint Tree.

Turkey Pompoms: Grab some old or outgrown socks as well, some dry beans, felt, pompoms (or cotton balls) and craft glue for these festive gobblers.

Gratitude Basket: Find a favourite basket and cut several strips of paper. Have each member of your family say or write down what they are thankful for and put it into the basket until Thanksgiving dinner when they can be read aloud. It's a wonderful tradition to begin if you haven't already.

Enjoy!
